Electrical Test Technician
£35-45K basic salary (depending on experience) + £4.8K car allowance + Overtime (OTE up to £60K with O/T) and Excellent benefits
We have an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Test Technician to join a world leading engineering organisation specialised in the design and manufacture of high-power capital equipment and special purpose machinery used in various industries.
As an Electrical Test Technician, you will be responsible for testing, validating, commissioning and troubleshooting electrical systems, control panels and equipment to ensure they are safe, reliable and compliant with customer requirements, industry standards and relevant legislation.
Working within the Customer Service Department, you will support the successful delivery of equipment by carrying out electrical testing, fault-finding and technical investigations. You will work closely with Engineering, Production and Service teams while also providing technical support to customers when required.
Duties:
Implement and execute test plans and procedures for electrical components, control panels and associated systems.
Carry out functional, performance and safety testing on electrical equipment.
Travel to customer sites to assist service engineers with commissioning and
breakdowns.
Use test equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, power analysers and other diagnostic tools to run tests.
Identify, investigate and rectify faults or errors identified during the testing phase.
Analyse test data and determine root causes of failures or performance issues.
Ensure systems comply with customer specifications, company standards and
relevant electrical regulations.
Verify compliance with applicable safety requirements, including BS 7671 (18th
Edition) and other industry standards.
Produce accurate and detailed test reports for engineers, management and
customers.
Maintain testing records and documentation in accordance with company procedures.
Provide technical support to production, engineering and customer service teams.
Assist with commissioning activities and troubleshooting at customer sites when required.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reliability and testing processes.
Liaise professionally with customers, suppliers and colleagues across the business.
Undertake UK and overseas travel to support customer requirements, installations and commissioning activities.
Experience/Skills required for the Field Service Engineer
A minimum qualification ONC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent although relevant practical experience will also be considered..
Good knowledge of wiring regulations and safety laws (like BS 7671 / 18th Edition)
Ability to read electrical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams
Hands-on experience with lab testing tools and diagnostic software
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Good organisational and time management skills.
Good general PC skills including all MS Office packages desirable.
Able to undertake international travel.
Full UK driving licence
