Maintenance Engineer – Β£50,750 – Barnsley (S74) Double Days (10am-6pm/5pm-2am) – State Pension + 25 Days Holiday About the client ATA are supporting a major UK operation in their brand new facility based in Barnsley.

Following a full rebrand and significant cultural shift, the business is undergoing large-scale investment, digital transformation, and expansion into international markets.

With modern automation, growing volumes, and a renewed focus on engineering development, this is an excellent opportunity for a Maintenance Engineer to join a stable and improving site with long-term potential.

Training & development This role offers: structured development pathways PLC awareness training including Profibus/Profinet courses, Future progression into senior or team leader roles as the engineering structure continues to evolve.

What you'll be doing As a Maintenance Engineer , you will be responsible for keeping a state-of-the-art fast-paced automated logistics facility running efficiently, with a strong focus on reducing downtime and improving reliability.

Your responsibilities will include: Reactive and planned maintenance across automated conveyor and sortation systems.

Mechanical fault finding on conveyors, monorail systems, pneumatics, bearings, belts, sprockets, and rollers.

Electrical fault finding using a multimeter, reading schematics, working in control panels, and changing drives and inverters.

Monitoring PLC-controlled systems and supporting basic diagnostics (training provided).

Working on equipment such as sorters, conveyors, barcode scanners, booms, and high-speed camera systems.

What the client is looking for To succeed as a Maintenance Engineer , you'll need: A recognised Level 3 qualification in Engineering (NVQ, City & Guilds, BTEC, Apprenticeship or equivalent) Ability to fault find mechanically and electrically and be able to isolate equipment effectively Confidence working in a fast-paced environment A proactive, hands-on approach with a focus on reliability rather than firefighting.
