About the role...
Reporting to the Finance Team Leader, this is a fixed-term role created to provide operational support and cover within the Finance team while three colleagues participate in a major internal systems project. The successful postholder will provide support across a range of finance activities, covering key responsibilities within the Senior Income Officer, Senior Payments Officer and Finance Business Partner functions. The role will also provide administrative support across the wider Finance team, helping to maintain continuity of service and the effective delivery of day-to-day operations throughout the project period.
You'll be responsible for a broad range of financial administration and accounting activities, including:
- Direct Debit administration
- Rent accounting and Housing Benefit processing
- Banking reconciliations
- Sales and purchase ledger activities
- Supplier payments

- Credit control
You will also support financial reporting, audit requirements and key system processes, ensuring records are maintained accurately and activities are carried out in accordance with financial regulations, policies and procedures. This is a varied role that requires flexibility, collaboration and a willingness to support different areas of the Finance function as business needs evolve. There may also be a requirement to undertake ad hoc line management responsibilities during periods when substantive managers are engaged in project-related activities.
About You...
We're looking for someone who can hit the ground running and bring strong finance administration experience, ideally gained within housing, local government, social housing or another regulated environment. You will have A-Level qualifications or equivalent experience, together with a sound understanding of income collection, credit control, sales ledger and purchase ledger processes. Strong reconciliation skills, attention to detail and experience working within a busy finance environment are essential.
You will be highly organised, able to manage competing priorities and confident building effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across the organisation. Alongside good intermediate IT skills and experience using finance systems, you'll bring a proactive approach to problem-solving, a commitment to continuous improvement and the ability to work independently while contributing positively to the wider team. Experience of supporting senior finance functions and providing operational cover across multiple areas of finance would be advantageous.
