About the Role:
As a Fire Safety Inspecting Officer, you will help protect people, property and communities by regulating a diverse range of non-domestic premises and higher-risk residential buildings. You will undertake risk-based fire safety audits, provide specialist fire safety advice, respond to statutory consultations and, where necessary, use proportionate enforcement to secure compliance with fire safety legislation.
The role will include:
Undertaking risk-based fire safety audits across a diverse range of non-domestic premises and higher-risk residential buildings
Providing professional fire safety advice to Responsible Persons and duty holders, using education, engagement and proportionate enforcement to secure compliance with fire safety legislation
Responding to complaints and undertaking statutory consultations under Building Regulations, licensing and housing legislation
Investigating alleged breaches of fire safety legislation and preparing enforcement notices and prosecution case files where appropriate
Maintaining accurate records on the Premises Risk Management System (PRMS) and contributing to the Service's Risk-Based Intervention Programme (RBIP).
Producing high-quality reports, correspondence, notices and technical records in accordance with legislation, Service procedures and national guidance
We are looking for a competent and motivated fire safety professional who is committed to improving public safety through proportionate, risk-based regulation. You will be able to build positive relationships with businesses and partner agencies while making confident, evidence-based decisions in your role as an enforcing officer.

Experience and Qualifications Required:
Full UK driving licence
Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety
Competent Fire Safety Inspecting Officer with experience of undertaking fire safety audits across a range of premises, undertaking statutory consultations and using proportionate enforcement where appropriate
Competent in the use of Microsoft Office and relevant Service information systems
Able to assess risk, exercise sound professional judgement and produce clear, evidence-based reports
