Responsibilities and duties of the Maintenance Technician role
- Reporting to the Maintenance Manager you will be responsible for:
- Conduct Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across a wide range of mechanical, electrical and C&I equipment, including motors, valves, rotating machinery, pumps, switchgear, variable speed drives, instrumentation and conveyor systems.
- Develop and manage PPM schedules, while reviewing and assessing plant defects as required.
- Identify critical maintenance spares and maintain effective control and management of spare parts stock.
- Plan and implement plant improvement and engineering projects.
- Supervise subcontractors and work closely with external contractors, particularly during scheduled maintenance, inspections and shutdown activities.
- Provide technical knowledge, guidance and leadership to O&M Assistants in relation to maintenance activities.
- Support the Maintenance Manager in the creation, implementation and initial configuration of the CMMS.
- Accurately document maintenance activities within the CMMS and assist with scheduling future maintenance requirements.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair faults across a broad range of electrical and mechanical plant and equipment.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and actively investigate recurring faults, developing and implementing effective engineering solutions.
Professional qualifications
- We are looking for someone with the following:
- Ideally having a NVQ Level 3 minimum qualification in an engineering discipline such as Mechanical, Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation, etc.
- A health and safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH will be advantageous.
Personal Skills, Prior Experience and Knowledge
- The Maintenance Technician role would suit someone who has:
- Maintenance experience in a heavy process engineering environment such as Power Generation, Paper Mills, Refineries, Petrochemical, etc.
- Experience working with CMMS to accurately record maintenance activities.
- Experience working with a variety of equipment including steam boilers, pumps, motors, variable speed drives, conveyor systems, valves, etc.
