Due to impressive company growth, the business is searching for an Assistant Management Accountant to join one of the largest divisions in a newly established role. Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, you shall work collaboratively with others in the finance team to manage the day-to-day financial transactions and month-end routine.

Your New Role As Assistant Management Accountant:

As Assistant Management Accountant, you will support the Senior Finance Manager in the accurate and timely production of monthly management accounts, while providing valuable financial support to the Commercial and Operational teams. You shall play a pivotal role in ensuring financial information is accurate, risks and opportunities are identified early, and the business has the insight it needs to make informed commercial decisions.

As Assistant Management Accountant, you shall focus on financial reporting, providing further analysis and financial control, whilst working closely with Commercial Managers. Within this role, you shall have the opportunity to contribute to improving finance processes and reporting, with genuine progression towards a Management Accountant position for the right candidate.

Duties:

  • Support the month-end close process, including the preparation of journals, reconciliations, management accounts, P&L reporting and variance analysis.
  • Provide clear and meaningful financial commentary, investigating variances and challenging unusual transactions where appropriate.
  • Partner closely with Commercial Managers and operational teams to ensure WIP is accurately captured and reported, valuations are correctly reflected, and costs/payments are recorded accurately.
  • Support the review and processing of subcontract payments.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities, maintain strong financial governance and compliance with Group policies.
  • Build strong relationships across Finance, Commercial and Operational teams, providing proactive financial support and insight to non-financial heads.
  • Assist in the improvements across financial processes and reporting.
  • Production of accurate financial analysis and reporting, enabling commercial decision-making.

Experience & Qualifications Required To Apply:

The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years in a similar role where duties are varied and you have had exposure to accounting in a complex business environment. AAT Qualified, or part ACA/CIMA/ACCA, you shall have had exposure supporting month-end processes and management accounting, and also ideally have operated within a similar business as experience of WIP, contract accounting and handling subcontractor payments is particularly important for this role.
