About the Role
Are you a 360 recruiter or recruitment account developer who gets more of a buzz from winning the opportunity than delivering it? Do you enjoy researching target organisations, opening doors and building relationships with senior decision makers? If so, this could be a very different next step in your recruitment career.
What Makes This Role Different?
This isn't a traditional recruitment business development role. You'll focus on strategic client relationships, long-term engagement and creating opportunities that can influence major workforce solutions programmes. Success isn't about how many vacancies you fill. It's about opening doors, building relationships, creating opportunities and contributing to business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a defined portfolio of strategic target accounts, understanding each organisation, its priorities and key decision makers.
- Research and engage senior stakeholders through tailored, multi-channel outreach including telephone, email, LinkedIn and other digital channels.
- Generate qualified new business meetings and opportunities through proactive client engagement.
- Build and nurture long-term prospect relationships using relevant content, events, market insight and regular contact.
- Work with Marketing and Business Development to maximise campaigns, events and other opportunities to engage target clients.
- Manage and qualify inbound sales enquiries, identifying appropriate opportunities for Business Development.
- Maintain accurate, high-quality account, contact and engagement information within HubSpot to support effective pipeline management.
- Support capture planning for strategic and 'must-win' opportunities through targeted stakeholder engagement.
- Continually identify creative and innovative ways to open doors, strengthen relationships and create new opportunities.
What We're Looking For
You Thrive on Winning New Business
You enjoy opening doors, building relationships and creating new opportunities. You'll have:
- At least 5 years' experience in a 360 recruitment role, or strategic account management/development within an MSP/RPO environment, with a proven track record of generating new client opportunities.
- Experience proactively identifying and engaging new organisations and decision makers through telephone, email, LinkedIn and other channels.
- Confidence building relationships and engaging credibly with senior stakeholders.
- The ability to understand customer needs and communicate a compelling, relevant value proposition.
You Don't Give Up Easily
Strategic sales can take time. You need to be resilient, consistent and motivated to keep going when things don't happen immediately. You'll have:
- Exceptional resilience and determination, maintaining momentum through rejection, setbacks and longer sales cycles.
- A target-focused mindset, with the drive to take ownership of your own performance and results.
- The ability to work independently, stay organised and maintain consistent activity without close supervision.
- A proactive and adaptable approach, learning from what works, testing new ideas and changing your approach when needed.
You Build Relationships Before You Sell
You are naturally curious and want to understand your customers before trying to sell to them. You'll have:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence and credibility to engage senior executives and decision makers.
- Strong listening and questioning skills, with a naturally curious and consultative approach.
- Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to understand customer priorities and build trust over time.
- A creative approach to client engagement, tailoring your communication to make it relevant and stand out in a crowded market.
Desirable Experience
The following isn't essential but would be beneficial:
- Wider workforce solutions, MSP, RPO or Talent Acquisition experience.
- Experience selling recruitment or workforce solutions to HR, Procurement or senior business leaders.
- Experience using CRM, sales automation and AI tools to support effective, personalised client engagement.
- Experience supporting strategic sales or capture planning, ideally within the critical infrastructure sector.
- Experience working collaboratively across Marketing, Business Development and Bid teams.
- Experience managing, coaching or developing junior team members.
How Success Will Be Measured
Success will be measured through a combination of commercial outcomes, pipeline development and collaboration, including:
- Number of qualified meetings and event attendees generated.
- Improving the quality and depth of target customer relationships.
- Pipeline value created, including conversion of target accounts into active opportunities.
- Quality and accuracy of CRM data.
