JDR Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Precast Concrete Estimator to join their growing team in Somercotes, Derbyshire. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established manufacturer specialising in bespoke precast concrete, wet cast, GRC and cast stone products, supplying projects across the UK. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing accurate quotations and cost estimates for a wide range of bespoke construction projects.
The Role
Reporting to the Business Development Director, you will be responsible for producing accurate estimates and quotations while working closely with the design, engineering and production teams to ensure projects are costed efficiently from enquiry through to quotation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare estimates and quotations for bespoke precast concrete, wet cast, GRC and cast stone products.
- Review architectural drawings, specifications and project documentation.
- Calculate material, labour, mould and production costs.
- Produce accurate cost breakdowns and maintain quotation records.
- Liaise with design, engineering, production and mould-making teams to ensure technical requirements are fully understood.
- Manage enquiries from receipt through to quotation submission.
- Respond to technical queries relating to products and project requirements.
- Develop a strong understanding of the company's full product range, including semi-dry cast stone systems.
- Maintain estimating databases and customer records.
- Support continuous improvement within the estimating process.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
- Previous estimating experience within the precast concrete, cast stone or construction manufacturing sector.
- The ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Experience preparing estimates, quotations or material take-offs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple enquiries simultaneously.
- Competency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Knowledge of relevant construction practices and industry standards would be advantageous.
- A full UK driving licence.
