Aerospace Quality & Compliance Manager | Permanent | Essex | circa Β£65k+

An aerospace precision manufacturer in Essex is hiring an Aerospace Quality & Compliance Manager to take charge of their inspection function and drive the business toward continued AS9100 and ISO 9001 excellence. It's a standalone leadership position with real autonomy over how quality is run day to day, working a four-day week.

You'll be the driving force behind the QMS, the go to person for customers, suppliers and certification bodies on anything quality related, and the person who keeps the Inspection team performing at a high standard. Expect a genuine mix of strategic input and hands on involvement, from signing off product release to getting into root cause detail when something needs fixing.

What you'll be doing
Driving continual improvement of the QMS against AS9100 Rev D and ISO 9001
Building and coaching the Inspection team, with full responsibility for their workload and output
Preparing and signing off FAIR and LAIR documentation to AS9102 standards
Holding Approved Signatory status for product release and inspection related processes
Planning and delivering internal, supplier and external audits, chasing corrective actions through to close
Investigating nonconformities and leading CAPA activity to stop repeat issues
Keeping the calibration system compliant across all inspection and test equipment
Training the team on electronic FAIR software and supporting Design Authority approval requirements
Bringing quality performance data into production and management meetings

What you'll bring
A background managing quality within UK aerospace manufacturing
Solid knowledge of AS9100 Rev D, ISO 9001 and EASA requirements
Internal Auditor qualification and genuine audit experience, not just theory
Comfortable preparing FAIRs and LAIRs to AS9102 standard
A track record of leading and developing an inspection or quality team
Confidence reading complex engineering drawings and specifications
Sharp attention to detail with the communication skills to match

What's on offer
A four-day working week, Monday to Thursday, 37.5 hours
20 days (rising to 22 days in 2027) annual leave plus 8 bank holidays, with a Christmas shutdown
Company pension and a wellbeing package covering health cash plan, life assurance and an employee assistance programme, plus shopping discounts

This is a role for someone who wants to properly own quality, not just administer it. Get in touch to find out more.
