‘Building a Culture of Compassion, Confidence & Consistency’ At All Stars Out of School Club - Hull, we provide high-quality, fun and inclusive wraparound care for children aged 5-11 years. Our club is a place where children can relax, play, explore their interests and build friendships before and after the school day as well as during Holiday Club.

Your Core Purpose

As Out of School Club Manager, you’ll take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the club, ensuring it operates safely, smoothly and in line with regulatory requirements. You’ll lead a small team, oversee planning and provision, manage safeguarding and compliance, and build positive relationships with children, families and schools. This is a hands‑on leadership role, balancing operational management with direct involvement in play and care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Management
    • Lead, motivate and support a team of playworkers.
    • Manage rotas, staffing levels and deployment to ensure safe supervision at all times.
    • Oversee recruitment, induction, supervision and ongoing staff development.
    • Foster a positive, inclusive and child-centred team culture.
  • Play & Child Experience
    • Ensure a high-quality, play-based programme that reflects children’s interests and supports their wellbeing.
    • Promote free play, choice, independence and positive behaviour.
    • Create a welcoming, inclusive environment for children of all abilities and backgrounds.
    • Support children’s emotional wellbeing, friendships and confidence.
  • Safeguarding, Health & Safety
    • Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
    • Ensure safeguarding, child protection and health & safety policies are fully implemented.
    • Lead risk assessments, daily checks and safe collection procedures.
    • Respond appropriately to concerns, incidents and accidents in line with statutory guidance.
  • Compliance & Administration
    • Ensure the club meets Ofsted requirements for the Compulsory & Voluntary Childcare Registers.
    • Maintain accurate records, including registers, accidents, incidents and attendance.
    • Prepare for inspections and support continuous improvement.
    • Manage basic budgets, resources and stock as required.
  • Partnership with Parents, Schools & Community
    • Build strong, professional relationships with families.
    • Communicate clearly with parents about their child’s experience and wellbeing.
    • Work collaboratively with schools, local authorities and external agencies.
    • Act as an ambassador for the club within the local community.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Level 3 qualification or equivalent, countable in ratios (e.g. Early Years Educator, Playwork Level 3, Childcare or relevant qualification)
  • Experience working with children aged 5-11 years in a childcare or play setting
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection and health & safety
  • Experience leading or supervising staff (or readiness to step into a leadership role)
  • Good organisational, communication and problem‑solving skills
  • Enhanced DBS Checklist with barred check list and suitable to work with children.
  • Full and Relevant 12 Hour Paediatric First Aid Training or willingness to complete before being counted in ratio.
  • Good Written & Spoken English
  • Food Safety Level 2 or willingness to complete before handling food

Desirable Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience managing or deputising within an out of school club or wraparound provision
  • Training or experience in play work principles
  • Level 2 English and Maths (GCSE or Functional Skills)
  • Experience working with SEND or behaviour support
  • Familiarity with inspection frameworks and quality improvement processes
