On behalf of our high-precision manufacturing client in Chelmsford, we are seeking an experienced Site Manufacturing Manager. You will oversee the entire production process to ensure the facility produces goods efficiently, safely, and on time. In this role, you will maintain the highest quality standards while driving continuous improvement across the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Production Oversight: Manage the full production life cycle from order intake to final delivery. This includes maintaining compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Contract Review & Planning: Lead and control the contract review process for all incoming customer orders. You will assess order complexity and capacity to develop optimal production schedules.
- Subcontracting & Resources: Evaluate and decide when to subcontract elements of orders to external partners. You must balance staff and material resources to meet customer expectations.
- Schedule Management: Support department team leaders as they implement production schedules. You will proactively reschedule plans to respond to changing priorities or material availability.
- Quality & Coordination: Enforce strict quality standards throughout the manufacturing process. Additionally, you will collaborate with Engineering and Quality teams to ensure all parts meet specifications.
- Issue Resolution: Identify and address any issues affecting customer orders quickly. You will also liaise with various departments to expedite parts and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive Lean or Six Sigma initiatives to maximize productivity and reduce lead times. Furthermore, you will mentor team leaders to ensure the team maintains best practices.
Requirements
- Management Experience: You possess a proven track record in manufacturing management, production planning, or operations leadership.
- Technical Proficiency: You have a strong understanding of contract review, capacity planning, and resource allocation. In-depth knowledge of quality standards and compliance is also essential.
- Strategic Skills: We require experience with subcontracting and supplier management. You should also be skilled in implementing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other improvement methodologies.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills are necessary to work cross-functionally with procurement and engineering teams.
- Preferred Background: Experience in electronics manufacturing and familiarity with ERP/MRP systems is highly desirable.
This position requires a leader who can navigate complex production scenarios while supporting the development of their team. Please note that occasional travel to other company sites may be required.
