We are currently recruiting a skilled CNC Turning Setter/Operator for our high-precision manufacturing client based in Chelmsford. In this role, you will manufacture components according to production plans while prioritising customer promise dates. You must ensure all parts meet exact drawing specifications and the highest quality standards. This position suits a detail-oriented professional who takes pride in “first-off” accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set, Program & Operate: You will set up, program, and operate CNC turning machines. This includes working with Nakamura and Citizen sliding head lathes for various batch sizes.
  • Technical Execution: Change and set tools, adjust offsets, and fine-tune programs. These actions ensure optimal machine performance throughout the production run.
  • Quality Assurance: Inspect first-off and in-process parts using precision measuring tools. This process guarantees accuracy against technical drawings and specific tolerances.
  • Workflow Management: Follow route cards strictly and complete all quality documentation. Furthermore, you will maintain accurate records and help wash components ready for subcontract or stock.
  • Team Collaboration: Take direction from the Turning Team Leader while using your own initiative when they are unavailable. Additionally, you will work collaboratively to ensure the smooth running of the department.
  • Operational Maintenance: Perform routine machine checks and maintain a tidy workspace. You must also comply with all company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Technical Experience: You possess proven experience setting and operating CNC turning machines. Our client prefers candidates with Nakamura and Citizen sliding head experience.
  • Blueprint Proficiency: You can read and interpret complex technical drawings fluently. Moreover, you are skilled in using precision measuring equipment.
