Role outline:
- Contract: 2-year fixed-term contract
- Salary: £12, prorated from £31,201 inclusive of £6,745 London Living Allowance per annum
- Location: Based at All Souls Clubhouse but requires movement in and around All Souls Parish, Westminster, the City of London and beyond.
- Hours: 14 hours/week (Requires flexible hours during the day, bi-weekly on Thursday evenings)

About the Role
As a Thai-speaking outreach worker, you seek to reach people predominantly in the Thai community working in the sex industry in Westminster and the City of London. You may at times require supporting individuals of other nationalities. You are required to initiate and build relationships with women and provide and facilitate practical help and support, in conjunction with the other Tamar staff and volunteers.
Key Tasks:
- Initiating and developing on-going relationships with women working in the sex industry
- Offering support and practical assistance to these women, when appropriate. This includes accompanying women to appointments, accessing local services, conducting one to one Bible studies (when appropriate), as well as making referrals
- Making referrals and following-up referrals to enable women to receive specialist support (i.e. access to benefits, legal assistance, medical care, etc.)
- Participating in regular outreach visits both to off street locations (i.e. flats/parlours etc.) and street locations
- Identifying new and monitoring existing working locations in Westminster and the City of London
- Supporting volunteers, also called serving partners, in their outreach to women
- Documenting all visits, creating profiles and updating records on the Tamar database in a timely manner
- Playing an essential role with respect to safeguarding
Person Specification
Essential:
- Fluent in Thai, as well as fluent in English
- University graduate or equivalent
- Have an understanding of the issues facing Thai women in the UK and familiarity with cultural issues in their home countries
- IT & word processing skills (Google docs, Apple, MS word, excel, powerpoint)
- Whole of life disciple wanting to know Christ more and grow in grace, obedience and Christ-likeness themselves
- Have a servant heart and seeks to live a life of Christian integrity
- Evangelical Christian in full sympathy with the vision, mission and values of ASSTC and All Souls Church
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Resilient, with an ability to handle pressured situations with calm, tact and wisdom
- Committed to self-care and pursuing a healthy work-life balance
- Ability to self-reflect and be aware of one's own boundaries
Desirable:
- Experience of reaching and supporting women involved in the sex industry
- Knowledge of social services and the ability to make and follow-up on referrals (including the National Referral Mechanism)
- Experience of empowering women to exit a lifestyle of sex work
- Experience with safeguarding reporting and following up of concerns
- Ability to lead one to one and small group Bible studies in English and Thai
- Experience working with volunteers
