All Souls is a local parish Church with a vision of making disciples by being with Jesus, becoming like Jesus, and seeking to do what he did. Planted into the St Margarets and Ivybridge areas of Twickenham in 2000, we have a strong history of ministry with young people and their families. The Church today includes a large number of children and youth who attend and engage with its services and activities. This role will oversee, grow, and develop the children’s ministries of All Souls Church, helping young people encounter Jesus, grow in faith, and become active members of the church community. We recognise that the right candidate may not be able to fulfil the full scope of this role. However, we will also welcome applications from those who may be able to contribute to some elements of this role.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Leadership & Vision
- Prayerfully shape and communicate a vision for children’s ministry in line with the wider mission of All Souls Church.
- Plan and deliver a programme of discipleship, worship, fellowship, and outreach for children (0–11).
- Develop age-appropriate teaching that engages children in the Bible and encourages personal faith.
- Ministry to Children (0–11)
- Oversee Sunday children’s groups, ensuring provision is safe, engaging, and spiritually nourishing.
- Co‑ordinate and lead Oasis – our Wednesday morning parents and toddlers group.
- Organise seasonal events that provide opportunities for outreach, connection and discipleship.
- Support the clergy team in ministry to local primary schools and children’s clubs.
- Encourage families to nurture their children’s faith at home.
- Team Development
- Recruit, support, and facilitate training of volunteer leaders and helpers.
- Create a culture of safeguarding, accountability, and encouragement within teams.
- Actively uphold our volunteer team and young people in prayer.
- Wider Church Engagement
- Encourage and advocate involvement of children in Sunday services and wider church life.
- Collaborate with other staff and ministry leaders to enable integration across church ministries.
- Build on relationships with local schools, community groups, and networks to extend our reach.
- Liaise with the youth minister to oversee key transition points (i.e. children’s groups to youth).
- Safeguarding & Administration
- Ensure activities and recruitment comply with All Souls safeguarding policies and practices.
- Maintain registers, records, and communication with parents/carers.
- Manage the children’s ministry budget & resources responsibly.
- Attend staff meetings and establish a regular pattern of supervision with line manager.
- Report to the PCC and APCM as requested.
Person Specification
- A committed Christian, supportive of the mission and values of All Souls Church.
- A heart for children, and a passion to encourage and facilitate their discipleship.
- Ability to work creatively to further develop the ministry to children and their families.
- Experience of and/or qualifications relating to work with children.
- Understanding of child development and group dynamics.
- Good organisation, communication and IT skills.
- Capacity to work independently and as part of a team (including delegation).
- Ability to inspire, equip and work collaboratively with volunteers.
- Understanding of safeguarding and a commitment to promoting best practice.
- A desire to live in a way that inspires others to follow Christ.
- Ability to prioritise workload – this will be particularly important in this part‑time role.
