An experienced design engineer working for a global leader in subsea technology and manufacturing, serving areas in the seismic industry, defence, offshore energy and subsea (high pressure) technology industries. You will be involved in varied projects under guidance, gaining experience with high-spec projects and supporting senior engineers. With in-house design and manufacturing expertise, the company provides innovative solutions for extreme environments worldwide. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Design Engineer with a strong interest in manufacturing in the subsea technology space looking to develop a long-term career within a well-established and reputable production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the design of subsea technology combining functions such as breathing gases, fluids, electrical power, communication, hydraulics, and pneumatics, for seismic, defence, subsea technology (e.g., Diving).
- Write test specifications and qualification procedures for subsea scenarios such as tension, torsion, compression, and cyclic bending, when required.
- Provide technical support to production teams during manufacturing to ensure quality and conformity to design.
- Investigate field failures or performance issues, implementing robust design improvements.
Qualifications And Experience:
- Bachelors or higher degree in engineering, physics, or mathematics, or similar.
- Experienced engineering designer using 2D CAD or 3D CAD and/or SolidWorks.
- Some understanding of subsea technology, including seismic energy, renewable, and marine/diving applications in high-pressure environments.
- Good knowledge of electrical theory (voltage stress, resistance, voltage drop, current rating, and heating effects), hydraulics/pneumatics (pressure drop, fluid mechanics), and mechanical engineering (materials, stress/strain, fatigue).
- Knowledge or interest in electrical cable design and construction, including cable geometry, helix angles, lay-lengths, and copper specifications.
- Proficient in 2D CAD software (preferably AutoCAD); proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks) advantageous.
- Preferred: Exposure to ISO 9001 quality systems and experience in corrective action resolution.
- Experience with engineering documentation control systems (SolidWorks EPDM advantageous).
