Analytical Chemist (Shift) c38k

An analytical chemist is urgently required to contribute to the efficient operation of the inorganic quality laboratory by the accurate and timely analysis of samples. As an inorganic chemist, you will collate and interpret data, initiating corrective actions where appropriate. You will support process and product development work, assist in customer support activities, and support the laboratory supervisor.
Due to the nature of shift work, this role may involve long hours (with a higher salary) but also more days off per month, including night shifts and day shifts on a rota.

Key Responsibilities
- Knowledge of quality systems, testing methods, and equipment operation in inorganic chemistry (e.g., IC, ICP, ICP-OES, GC-MS, XRF)
- Recording of analytical data
- Development of analytical test methods and operating procedures
- Carrying out analytical projects and producing reports
- Adherence to all laboratory safety and hygiene policies
- Analysis of samples and product pass/fail assessment based on analytical values
- Labeling samples for shipment
- Calibration and standardization of instruments and reagents
- Development of methods to analyze specific properties of products
- Generation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Evaluation of analytical methods\’ accuracy and reliability using statistical methods
- Maintaining reagent stock levels and ensuring equipment calibration and maintenance
- Ensuring compliance with ISO standards and health & safety requirements
Shift Pattern
2 days / 2 nights (4 On 4 Off Shift Pattern). Own transport recommended due to shift timings.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Chemistry or a related field
- Industrial chemistry background or lab experience desirable (training can be provided to graduates)
- Experience or understanding of inorganic analytical techniques (e.g., IC, ICP, GC-MS, XRF) from university projects or experience
