All Saints CE Primary School is seeking a Class Teacher for Year 1 to Year 5. The successful candidate will be responsible to the Phase Leader, Deputy Headteacher, and Headteacher.
Aims of the Post: To provide the highest quality of education, care, and preparation for life for all pupils in accordance with the Teacher Standards.
Teaching and Learning:
- Manage pupil learning through effective teaching with high expectations of all pupils in accordance with our curriculum map, schemes of work, and policies.
- Teach a broad curriculum to the assigned class, classes, or groups of pupils to facilitate the acquisition of knowledge/skills and promote enjoyment in learning.
- Ensure continuity, progression, and cohesiveness in all teaching.
- Use a variety of methods and approaches (including adaptive teaching) to match curricular objectives in subject areas and pupil needs, ensuring equal opportunity and accessibility for all pupils.
- Support individual learning by planning work with appropriate challenge and monitoring and reviewing pupil outcomes regularly.
- Be responsible for a designated classroom/teaching area and supervise associated resources.
- Direct the use of any support staff to benefit from their specialist knowledge and maximise their effectiveness within lessons.
- Plan and provide structured learning opportunities that engage pupils’ interest and take account of their needs.
- Use allocated PPA time to plan effective lessons with clear content and appropriately structured subject matter.
- Establish and maintain a high standard of discipline using praise, rewards, and sanctions.
- Employ homework regularly to consolidate and extend learning.
- Provide a challenging yet supportive learning environment that stimulates and develops enquiring minds.
- Contribute to the identification of pupils with special educational needs and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Encourage pupils to be part of a school community that values all its members and promotes mutual respect.
- Develop in pupils a sense of moral values and a positive attitude towards themselves and others.
Monitoring, Assessment, Recording and Reporting:
- Be responsible for the process of identification, assessment, recording, and reporting for the pupils in their charge.
- Prepare and present informative reports to parents.
- Make effective use of data to monitor and evaluate pupil progress.
- Write high-quality annual reports to parents/carers.
- Assess pupils’ work systematically and use results to inform future planning.
Curricular Knowledge and Understanding:
- Have a thorough and up-to-date knowledge of the National Curriculum programmes of study.
- Keep up to date with research and developments in pedagogy and curriculum content.
Professional Standards and Development:
- Understand professional responsibilities in relation to school policies and practices.
- Set a good example in appearance and conduct.
- Critically evaluate resources and teaching to improve quality.
- Assist in the development of the School in line with the School’s Development plan.
- Take an active role in personal professional development.
Other Responsibilities:
- Undertake duties as directed by the Headteacher.
- Contribute to the school’s objectives in service delivery.
Conditions of Service: Governed by the National Agreement on Pay and Conditions of service, supplemented by local conditions as agreed by the governors.
Special Conditions of Service: Candidates may be required to work outside of normal school hours and must comply with departmental procedures regarding Police checks.
