Victoria Surgery is looking for a dispensary delivery driver to work a maximum of 8 hours on a Tuesday (flexible during periods of annual leave), transporting medication in a safe & timely manner to patients' homes across the Bury St Edmunds area & surrounding villages. This is initially a fixed-term position, for 12 months, with a view to extending to a permanent position. The post-holder will be a key point of contact for our patients & collection-point partners, so you will need good communication skills & a keen desire to give good customer service. The role will involve assisting patients & their carers by reporting their queries back to the dispensary to ensure they receive a prompt response. You will also maintain a log of all deliveries, organise your own route as efficiently as possible & carry out vehicle checks at the beginning or end of each shift, recorded onto our Clarity system. You will be an essential part of our dispensary team, working alongside our team of dispensers to ensure that our patients always receive their medication on time.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver patients' medication to their home addresses, within the practice catchment area, following the standard operating procedures (training will be provided).
  • Deliver patients' medication to collection points across Bury St Edmunds & surrounding villages.
  • Respond to all queries & requests for assistance from patients, their carers & the owners of the businesses in a polite & efficient manner.

We are part of the Bury St Edmunds Primary Care Network and the successful candidate will work alongside a team including paramedics, social prescriber, care coordinators and pharmacy technician. This job will suit you if you enjoy being in a customer-facing role and are committed to giving high-standards of service to our patients.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • You will need to act in a polite and professional manner and have the ability to follow the practice's policies and procedures to ensure patient safety.
  • It is a requirement of employment that you follow practice policy in maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
  • You should have good organisational and planning skills, be a good team player and be able to work flexibly and change plans and routes when needed.
  • A full clean driving licence is essential for this role as is the ability to lift heavy parcels/products.
  • Familiarity of the Bury St Edmunds area and surroundings would be advantageous.
