Job Responsibilities:
- Lead monitoring and interpretation of global chemical regulations (e.g., EU, Korea, China and other REACH like global regulations, TSCA, DSL, Conflict Minerals, PFAS, IED, EED, EUDR etc.) and develop compliance action plans.
- Manage substance registrations, notifications, and compliance submissions for products.
- Support Alkegen’s Industrial Hygiene program to manage exposure of chemicals including PFAS, RCF, PCW fibers and other products to minimize human health and environmental impact.
- Conduct and support regulatory reviews for new product introductions and market expansions.
- Provide regulatory and sustainability support for new product introductions.
- Maintain documentation to support compliance audits and customer regulatory inquiries.
- Manage and respond to customer regulatory requests related to product compliance or other regulatory matters.
- Partner with business unit leaders, sourcing and procurement, R&D, manufacturing sites, and other cross-functional stakeholders to proactively manage product compliance.
- Develop, implement, and/or support best practices for minimizing exposure to employees and the environment from fiber, dust and chemicals.
- Attend/support customer issues related to compliance and stewardship.
- Lead and/or participate in industry consortiums and regulatory forums to advance and defend Alkegen’s policies and positions impacting its products.
- Develop, implement, train on procedures, processes and systems for product and facility compliance to cross-functional stakeholders.
- Lead/support communication with regulatory agencies, consultants and external stakeholders on compliance requests, Notices of Violation and Notice of Consent orders.
- Manage environmental monitoring, data collection, and reporting.
- Support remediation projects, reporting, and stakeholder communication related to PFAS.
- Develop, implement and support strategies for PFAS compliance, risk reduction, and substitution in products, processes, and supply chains.
- Conduct assessments of PFAS use and potential environmental and health impacts, as applicable.
- Engage with suppliers, customers, and regulators regarding PFAS regulations and best practices.
- Prepare, review, and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and labels in accordance with global GHS and Transportation standards (e.g., REACH/CLP, ADR etc.).
- Author/maintain SDS databases and ensure version control and timely updates for new and existing products in compliance with GHS / CLP.
- Lead and/or aid with onboarding of new facilities with product compliance obligations.
- Collaborate with R&D, Technical Sales, EHS, Operations and Quality to gather product composition and hazard data.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Toxicology, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or related fields.
- 7+ years of experience in product stewardship and regulatory affairs within the chemical, coatings, or manufacturing industry.
- Experience in authoring global SDSs, global GHS implementation and chemical hazard classification.
- Working knowledge of global chemical regulations (REACH, TSCA, GHS / CLP, PFAS, PPWR, EUDR, CBAM, ESOS, IED, EED etc.).
- Experience with industry consortia, regulators (such as ECHA, ECFIA, CEFIC etc.).
- Experience with product regulatory data systems (e.g., IUCLID, SCIP etc.).
- Experienced in software systems such as ETQ, 3E, authoring software program etc.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across the business with cross-functional stakeholders managing through influence.
- Excellent writing and presentation skills required.
- Ability to work with a sense of urgency and strict deadlines.
- Ability to execute risk management initiatives and long-term projects.
- High level of integrity, willingness and ability to demonstrate Alkegen's core values.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree.
- Relevant environmental compliance certifications (NEBOSH, ISO 14001, ECCP, LCA etc.).
- Experience with Life Cycle Analysis / Product Carbon Footprint.
