Primary Activities
  • Operate both SEF 1 and SEF 3 baling machines, SEF 3 blanket line equipment, Wet Plant reel end and mix equipment, depending on the product form required, packing all product to the required specification.
  • Ensure that boxes are made, correctly labelled and sealed to the set standard, to satisfy customer requirements.
  • Remove scrap from the production line and recycle or dispose of according to standard procedures.
  • Constantly monitor product quality visually and through taking samples to the agreed schedule for quality control analysis.
  • Remove contamination from the mat and highlight any persistent contamination to the SM.
  • Quality control, such as visual checks, thickness and densities and settling heights. Other in-line quality control checks may be introduced, for which the Production Operator will be trained.
  • Responsible for quality check on product leaving the factory.
  • Maintain and improve the set standard of housekeeping around the plant, with particular attention to the packing area.
  • Adherence to Unifrax packaging process instruction and compliance with the BOM (bill of materials) for which full training will be given.
  • Assist the Furnace and roto former operators where necessary to ensure the production lines run to standard.
  • Record taking and adherence to manufacturing standards, such as logging data and updating spreadsheets is expected.
Secondary Activities
  • Carry out scheduled cleaning activities on whichever plant you are operating in.
  • During plant shutdowns assist the production team in setting up the plant ready for the next campaign.
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping along the production lines.
  • Carry out other production activities as specified by the SM.
  • Carry out operator maintenance tasks for which training and accreditation have been completed.
  • Involvement in standardisation or continuous improvement activities on the plant.

  • A high level of computer literacy SAP and Excel.
  • Results orientated individual.

  • Highly organised and able to manage own workload and priorities.
  • Strong effective team player.
  • Flexibility to cover fluctuating demand within a small team.
  • Excellent interpersonal, persuasion and communication skills.
Qualifications / skills:
  • Production Operators will need to possess a current fork-lift truck (FLT) license and be medically fit for FLT work.
