TEAM LEADER, PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
We are recruiting for 2 Team Leaders to join our Product Development Team based at our ARC site near Penicuik, EH26 0BF.
This role is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week.
Monday-Friday.
The Alba R&D department is responsible for the development of Immunohaematology and haematology related products to meet the needs of customer requirements.
Primary deliverable is to work with internal teams and third-party collaborators as / if required to produce outcomes that meet design inputs and ensure that when the biological material is utilised within its intended use, the product performs against the documented specifications and requirements.
This role is responsible for timely delivery of products through coordination & day-to-day management of the scientific team and maintaining a progressive, positive and innovative culture across the department.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The main responsibilities will include
- The Team Leader is responsible for delivery of products through development stages by coordinating and managing the scientific team within the Alba R&D department.
- Direct Line management responsibilities for R&D scientists and/or technicians.
- Responsible for ongoing professional development & coaching of all staff within the Alba R&D department, including identification of high potential & provision of development plans to populate ready-now/ready later leadership profiles to sustain organisational growth.
- Will instill and maintain a progressive and positive culture in the department in adherence with the Alive Dx Winning Behaviours and Leadership Principles.
- Liaison with other Team Leaders & Project Leaders within the organisation to ensure appropriate allocation of resources, including staff, instrumentation and consumables to enable coordinated operational activities.
- Key member of the Progression Committee, responsible for reviewing candidates with Progression Portfolios and presenting to Departmental Heads for final review.
- Lead recruitment, identification and mentoring of new staff to upskill the team and ensure the correct level of expertise and competencies are maintained across the team.
- Support outcomes from Core Team Meetings, Project Reviews, Technical Reviews, Cross-Departmental reviews and Progression Stage Gate reviews.
- Review analytical data from laboratory processes, clinical field trials and product evaluation data to support product registration and license applications
- Build and maintain strong functional relationships across departments (e. g. QA/QC, Regulatory, Systems Integration)
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & BEHAVIOURS REQUIRED
- BSc in appropriate Discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Significant Laboratory experience.
- Knowledge of Cross-disciplinary teamworking and coordination.
- Experience of directly line managing a team of scientists
- Strong experience of Assay and Reagents development, including Quality Control assays.
Significant specialist know l edge of regulatory affairs as applied to in vitro diagnostic medical devices and an understanding of the operation of a medical device manufacturing establishment
- Experience of Gx P Manufacturing or Development environments
- Well-developed coaching, mentoring and stakeholder management skills
