IMMEDIATE START: We are seeking a dedicated, professional, and nurturing Maternity Nurse to support a family with their 2-week-old newborn. The primary focus of this role is to provide expert care for the infant while guiding the parents through the "fourth trimester." The ideal candidate will offer a calming presence, ensuring the baby’s physical needs are met and a healthy routine is established.
Key Responsibilities
- Newborn Care: Full responsibility for all aspects of infant care, including feeding (supporting breastfeeding or preparing bottles), bathing, dressing, and hygiene.
- Routine Establishment: Implementing and maintaining age-appropriate sleep and feeding schedules to help the baby settle into a predictable rhythm.
- Health Monitoring: Monitoring the baby’s growth, weight gain, and general well-being; identifying and managing common newborn issues like reflux, colic, or cradle cap.
- Parental Support: Providing emotional and practical guidance to the parents, including breastfeeding support, sterilisation procedures, and nursery organisation.
- Nursery Management: Maintaining a clean and organised nursery, laundering the baby’s clothes/linens, and ensuring all equipment is sanitised.
- Overnight Care: (If applicable) Managing night feeds and soothing the baby to ensure the parents receive adequate rest.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of professional experience as a Maternity Nurse or Postnatal Carer with verifiable references.
- Expertise: Extensive knowledge of newborn developmental stages, safety protocols (SIDS prevention), and various feeding methods.
- Certifications: Recognised Maternity Nurse/Postnatal qualification (e.g., MNT, OCN). Current Pediatric First Aid & CPR certification. Up-to-date DBS (or equivalent background check).
- Soft Skills: High level of discretion, patience, and a non-judgmental approach to supporting different parenting styles.
