We are seeking to recruit an experienced Transport Planner on behalf of our client, based in Mallusk, Newtownabbey. This is a permanent, full time position. The successful candidate will play a key role in the planning and coordination of the fleet and drivers, overseeing the safe and efficient distribution of goods across Northern Ireland. This role requires close attention to detail and a strong working knowledge of Road Traffic legislation and Working Time Regulations to ensure full compliance at all times. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, demonstrate excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, and bring a proactive, detail-driven approach to transport planning within a specialist fleet operation.

Working hours: Mon Fri (09:00 - 17:00)

Salary: £27,000 - £29,000

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Liaise with drivers and the contact centre to deliver a consistently high level of customer service.
  • Plan vehicles efficiently to maximise multi-drop delivery and collection performance.
  • Accurately upload to and monitor Fleet Management Software (Microlise) to ensure accurate usage.
  • Ensure all paperwork is completed correctly and customer-specific requirements are met.
  • Reporting/Filing Vehicle Defects.
  • Work closely with management to ensure PMI schedule is compliant.
  • Liaise with ferry operators to secure bookings and confirm sailings.
  • Provide Purchase Orders to suppliers via Sage.
  • Processing PODs.
  • Dispatching/Receipting Stock.
  • Stock Counts.
  • Updating Staff Productivity Bonus System.
  • Ensuring KPI Figures are monitored.
  • Completing Daily Activity Reports.
  • Being available via phone outside of working hours in case of emergencies.
  • Travel to customer premises for meetings if required.
  • Organising & distributing delivery paperwork to crews.
  • Health & Safety relating to deliveries & loading.
  • Ensuring driver cards are downloaded.
  • Downloading vehicle heads.
  • Completing accident/incident reports.
  • Organising customer collections.
  • Other admin duties as required.

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a Transport or Traffic Planning role.
  • High levels of accuracy with strong attention to detail.
  • SAP Experience.
