The Senior Consultant Role:
Senior Consultants work closely with Engagement Manager, Principals and Partners to solve challenging client questions. Senior Consultants fully own assigned projects and deliver components of the client engagement. Their main goal is the successful project delivery with the assigned team, within the agreed timeline with the highest quality standards. For this particular role, the Senior Consultant will be responsible for executing HEOR projects encompassing both global and locally-based projects for our clients. These project types will include developing global costâeffectiveness models (CEMs), budget impact models (BIMs), adaptations of global models to local contexts, and developing early models to support strategic decision making. In addition to this, the Senior Consultant will contribute to the development of Alira Healthâs HEOR offering by developing both internal resources to deliver our projects and develop proposals, as well as external resources such as abstracts, posters, manuscripts and white papers to enhance our profile.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Execution / Billability (70%-90%): Manages the execution of a project, develops a plan to approach clientâs needs, and leverages business experience and acumen in identifying strategies and project approach to client questions with limited guidance from senior roles. Coordinate client and stakeholder engagements, leading meetings, reporting to clients on overall project execution. Guide and review quantitative and qualitative analyses to assist in the identification of client issues and the development of client deliverables. Understands and anticipates potential issues and/or challenges deriving from the initial âproblemâ and able to communicate this effectively to the project team and senior roles. Coordinates the creation of entire reports, presentations, workshops, and other client deliverables. Ensures the high quality, time and accuracy of complex deliverables. Develops an inâdepth understanding of the life sciences and healthcare industry and a broad knowledge of related consulting methodologies through the delivery of consulting engagement and participation in formal and informal training programs. Provides oversight and direction to team members throughout the project development. Ensures compliance with the organizationâs policies / procedures, vision, mission statement, and values.
- Business Development / Corporate Initiatives (up to 20%): Support the Business Development process from lead discovery to proposal defense as part of the execution team. Participate in corporate development by contributing to internal strategic projects, knowledge management, technology systems, and related functions. Manage, coach, and coordinate Associates and/or Analysts and act as their point of reference for daily activities and training, among others. Support preparation and delivery of sales presentations, including quotes and full proposals. Support recruitment and oversee new employeesâ onboarding.
- Thought Leadership (up to 10%): Support development of thought leadership projects, such as white papers, publications, specialized conferences and so forth.
Desired Qualifications & Experience:
- Blend of consulting and industry experience.
- Minimum of 4â5 years of professional experience in top consulting and Life Sciences companies.
- Specific knowledge and experience in designing and building economic models (including global costâeffectiveness models (CEMs, including costâutility models) and budget impact models (BIMs) to support HTA submissions, adapting global models to support local submissions, and developing early CEMs and BIMs). Designing and building HTAâready economic models will be particularly valued.
- Strong understanding of HTA submission processes (NICE, SMC, HAS, GâBA, CDA, and other countries) and how economic modeling supports these processes.
- Graduate degree with an excellent track record in either Life Sciences, Business, Economics, or Engineering programs; specialized Master degrees in Economics (including Health Economics), Econometrics, Statistics, or related disciplines will be considered a plus.
- Experience in managing projects and project teams.
Technical Competencies & Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical skills and ability to problemâsolve unstructured or ambiguous challenges.
- Proven experience developing economic models in Excel (including use of VBA).
- Experience developing models using other platforms (for example, R and Python) and data visualization tools (R Shiny, TreeAge or Simul8) will also be valued.
- Proven project management skills, including clients interaction, full execution of deliverables, clear communication and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication, being able to sell ideas effectively to internal and external stakeholders, and interpersonal skills, working in a multicultural environment.
- Ability to coach and develop staff, including goal setting, feedback, and performance development.
- Flexible to accommodate changing priorities, with a positive and âcanâdoâ attitude.
- Excellent English, both written and verbal. Another language can be a plus.
- Team player who thrives in a less structured, collaborative environment.
