ALink Recruitment is working with a London based engineering consultancy seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to assess subsidence, cracking and associated structural defects across residential and commercial properties. The projects will primarily involve period buildings, particularly Victorian and Georgian properties throughout London. This is a flexible opportunity that can be structured on a permanent, contract or part-time basis. You may work fully remotely between site visits or from the consultancy's London office, depending on your preference.
The Role
- Conducting structural inspections of residential and commercial buildings across London
- Assessing cracking, subsidence, structural movement and other building defects
- Diagnosing likely causes and determining whether further investigation or monitoring is required
- Producing concise, technically robust inspection reports
- Recommending appropriate remedial works, monitoring or specialist investigations
- Communicating findings clearly to clients and other relevant parties
- Managing your own site-visit schedule and report workload
About You
- Substantial experience as a Senior Structural Engineer
- Previous experience assessing subsidence, cracking and structural movement
- Strong knowledge of traditional construction, particularly Victorian and Georgian buildings
- Experience working with both residential and commercial properties
- The ability to carry out inspections independently and reach sound technical conclusions
- Excellent written communication and report-writing skills
- Chartered status with ICE or IStructE, or progress towards chartership, is preferred
- The ability to travel between sites across London
