Accountability for the development and execution of International Brand Plan for designated countries, including Launch Readiness as required. Represent designated countries in the development of Marketing and Brand strategy for ILUVIENÂŽ outside the USA. Contribute to and support market access work in designated countries. Responsible for ensuring compliance in International context.

SCOPE / DIMENSIONS OF ROLE

The scope of the role covers “designated countries”, as defined within Alimera. In International at the time of writing, Marketing is led by this role. Functionally, this role works to align Marketing activities in the designated countries with International Brand Strategy. Dimensions of the role include all aspects of marketing, including:

  • brand management
  • strategic & tactical brand planning
  • congresses – booths and satellite symposia

In addition to the functional aspects of the role, the Marketing Manager, International will be part of the International Leadership Team.

RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES

Achievement of financial objectives – Deliver annual delivery revenue in line with agreed sales targets and forecasts. Manage promotional budgets to maximum effect in order to deliver commercial impact in terms of top and bottom‑line objectives. Ensure the effective management of P&L through the different stages of the brand life cycle.

Ensure pre‑marketing and market launch preparations are completed for country launches outside the USA – Drive and monitor launch‑readiness for planned and future countries across the regions and functions to support the phased launch of ILUVIEN® in line with expansion plans, ensuring strong cross‑functional leadership. Collaborate with International stakeholders to adapt and develop International core campaign materials, for use at International and local level on an annual basis. Work with Country Managers to ensure pre‑marketing and launch tactics are optimally performed, ensuring that appropriate CAS resources are in place to deliver local share of voice.

Develop & execute the marketing strategy at International level and roll out into markets – Develop the strategic marketing plan for International in conjunction with the International Leadership Team. Roll Brand Plan out to the Country Managers and partners, to ensure that the International marketing strategy and Brand plans are aligned in the country markets. Drive brand and business performance through strategies & programs to optimise access and brand competitiveness.

Optimize stakeholder management across the International-Regional-Local interfaces – Work with advocacy groups and thought leaders to support market planning, international meetings, symposia, exhibits, expert meetings, advisory boards and major company events in conjunction with the VP Medical Affairs, International.

Strategic Planning and Management – Work with the President, International Operations, to develop a robust five-year strategic plan for International. Support market access through delivery of clear positioning to secure optimum pricing for Alimera Sciences’ products. Undertake market research to validate International strategy and to monitor execution. Work with the VP Medical Affairs International to ensure Phase IV / Investigator led programs meet strategic marketing objectives. Anticipate and counter future competitor strategies at the International level.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE

Graduate level education, ideally in Life Sciences. Successful track record in Marketing within specialty care areas of pharmaceuticals - ideally including Ophthalmology. At least 2 years’ Pharmaceutical Marketing experience required. Pharmaceutical sales experience is an advantage. Proven experience leading and executing marketing strategies across multiple European countries within a complex, multi-country environment. Demonstrated experience in cross-functional brand leadership. Knowledge of International promotional codes. Experience in working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, including internal staff and external contractors. Demonstrated ability to handle competing priorities effectively. Clear, logical, solution-oriented thinker with the ability to develop innovative, entrepreneurial solutions.

Able to work effectively within and as a leader of cross-functional teams. High level of personal credibility – Commands high level of respect from internal and external stakeholders. Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills – Uses ability and knowledge of forecasting techniques to support business planning, provide secure demand forecasts and to set targets for product sales.
