Data Science Expert – AI Content Specialist
About The Role
What if your expertise in machine learning and statistical modeling could directly shape how the world's most advanced AI thinks? We're looking for Data Science Experts to challenge, evaluate, and improve cutting‑edge AI systems — turning your deep domain knowledge into a tangible impact on AI development. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role designed for experienced data scientists who want meaningful, intellectually stimulating work on their own schedule.
Organization: Alignerr
Type: Hourly Contract
Location: Remote
Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Design Complex Challenges: Craft advanced data science problems spanning hyperparameter optimization, Bayesian inference, cross‑validation strategies, dimensionality reduction, and more — pushing AI models to their limits.
- Author Ground‑Truth Solutions: Develop rigorous, step‑by‑step technical solutions including Python/R scripts, SQL queries, and mathematical derivations that serve as benchmark "golden responses".
- Audit AI‑Generated Code: Evaluate AI outputs using libraries like Scikit‑Learn, PyTorch, and TensorFlow — assessing technical accuracy, efficiency, and correctness.
- Refine AI Reasoning: Identify logical flaws in AI‑generated reasoning — such as data leakage, overfitting, or improper handling of imbalanced datasets — and provide structured feedback to improve model performance.
- Document Failure Modes: Systematically capture how and where AI models break down, producing insights that directly harden model reasoning.
Who You Are
- Advanced Degree: Master’s (pursuing or completed) or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a quantitative field with heavy emphasis on data analysis.
- Domain Expertise: Strong foundational knowledge across supervised/unsupervised learning, deep learning, big data technologies (Spark/Hadoop), or NLP.
- Analytical Writer: Able to communicate complex algorithmic concepts and statistical results clearly and concisely in written form.
- Detail‑Oriented: High precision when reviewing code syntax, mathematical notation, and the validity of statistical conclusions.
- No prior AI experience required — your data science expertise is what matters.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience with data annotation, data quality, or evaluation systems.
- Proficiency in production‑level data science workflows such as MLOps or CI/CD for models.
- Familiarity with large language model evaluation or prompt engineering.
Why Join Us
- Work directly with industry‑leading AI research teams and cutting‑edge language models.
- Fully remote and asynchronous — work when and where it suits you.
- Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, intellectually engaging work.
- Contribute to AI development that shapes how technology reasons about data science.
- Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch.
