We're partnering with the world's leading AI research labs to build smarter, more technically rigorous AI models — and we need mechanical engineers to make it happen. As a Mechanical Engineering Expert, your deep domain knowledge will directly shape how AI understands and reasons through complex engineering problems in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, structural mechanics, and beyond. This is a unique opportunity to sit at the intersection of engineering and artificial intelligence — no AI background required.

What You'll Do

  • Design Advanced Problems — Craft challenging mechanical engineering problems across domains including FEA, heat transfer, kinematics, and material science to rigorously test AI performance.
  • Author Gold-Standard Solutions — Write precise, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for AI learning and evaluation.
  • Audit AI Reasoning — Evaluate AI-generated outputs — including CAD logic, thermodynamic proofs, and material specifications — for technical accuracy, safety, and compliance with standards like ASME and ISO.
  • Refine Model Thinking — Identify and document reasoning failures such as incorrect force distributions, energy conservation violations, or flawed assumptions, and provide structured feedback to improve AI logic.

Who You Are

  • Pursuing or holding a Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Strong foundational knowledge in one or more core areas: solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processes.
  • Able to communicate complex physical phenomena and technical concepts clearly in written form.
  • Meticulous attention to detail — especially when reviewing mathematical derivations, unit conversions, and physical constraints.
  • No prior AI or data annotation experience required.

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience with data annotation, quality evaluation, or technical review workflows.
  • Familiarity with engineering software such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, or ANSYS.
  • Experience reviewing or writing technical documentation to industry standards.

Why Join Us

  • Work on cutting-edge AI projects in collaboration with top AI research labs.
  • Fully remote and flexible — set your own schedule and workload.
  • Freelance autonomy with the variety and stimulation of real engineering challenges.
  • Gain direct exposure to how advanced large language models (LLMs) are trained and evaluated.
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension.
