Role Description
This full-time, on-site Senior Residential Child Care Worker/Team Leader role is based in Ealing. The position involves leading a small team to provide consistent, person-centered care for children and young people in a residential setting, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and emotional development. Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising staff, organizing daily routines and activities, supporting care plans, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with safeguarding and regulatory standards. The role also includes liaising with families, social workers, and other professionals, coordinating appointments and reviews, and contributing to staff training and development. The Team Leader is expected to act as a role model, support de-escalation of challenging situations, and promote a positive, stable environment.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in childcare and working with children in residential or similar care settings.
- Background in social services or related support work, with a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
- Experience in staff training, mentoring, or team leadership within care or support environments.
- Ability to plan and coordinate structured activities and events that promote development and wellbeing.
- Relevant qualification in health and social care, childcare, or a related field (e.g., Level 3 or above), or equivalent.
- Strong communication, record-keeping, and organizational skills, with the ability to work calmly under pressure.
- Willingness to work shifts, including evenings and weekends, and sleep -ins as required for residential care.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards for children’s residential services and commitment to continuous professional development.
