Technical leader responsible for managing the design and construction of data center projects, ensuring compliance with business and technical requirements.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define project design criteria and develop the Basis of Design.
- Lead consultants to implement the project through schematic design, design development, and construction documents.
- Manage the design‑build contractor to ensure the project meets the defined Basis of Design.
- Provide construction administrative support to the project manager, including responding to RFIs, issuing technical bulletins, reviewing submittals and shop drawings, conducting source inspections, and participating in the data center commissioning process.
- Analyze and provide energy‑efficient solutions to minimize power losses.
- Review and develop detailed scripts for Change Management Request (CMR) activities.
- Travel to data center sites for engineering studies, electrical systems audits, startup testing, and full commissioning.
- Provide electrical mission‑critical system review services to local data center operations teams.
- Participate in Root‑Cause Analysis (RCA) for equipment failures or power outages.
- Respond to emergencies on an as‑needed basis.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in building design and construction.
- Knowledge of high‑voltage (115 kV, 12 kV) substation design and mission‑critical power distribution systems, including data center topologies, PLC‑based transfer controllers, generators, UPS, PDU, and Building Management Systems.
- Familiarity with industry standards, building codes, and safety standards such as NFPA, UFC, and UBC.
- Experience with construction and cost‑estimating processes.
- Cross‑discipline knowledge of complete critical facility systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Ability to provide solutions under pressure.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Visio, Bluebeam, and SKM software.
- Willingness to travel regionally and overseas (up to 30%).
- Bilingual in Mandarin Chinese is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Electrical Professional Engineer registration.
- Experience in data center or mission‑critical design, construction, and operations.
