We are looking for a skilled Butcher responsible for providing high-quality meat products and excellent customer service in a retail setting. This role involves preparing, cutting, and presenting various cuts of meat to meet customer preferences while ensuring compliance with safety and hygiene standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Meat Cutting and Preparation: Skillfully cut, trim, debone, and portion a variety of meats according to customer specifications and requests. Ensure that all cuts are of consistent quality, appearance, and size.
  • Customer Service: Greet and assist customers in a friendly and knowledgeable manner. Provide guidance on meat selections, cooking methods, and recipes. Address customer inquiries, special requests, and concerns to enhance their shopping experience.
  • Product Presentation: Arrange and display meat products in an appealing and organized manner, adhering to visual merchandising standards. Maintain clean and well-organized display cases to showcase the freshness and quality of products.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor meat inventory levels, track stock, and ensure products are replenished as needed. Assist in placing orders to maintain optimal stock levels and prevent shortages or overstocking.
  • Packaging and Labeling: Properly package and label meat products for sale, including vacuum sealing, wrapping, and pricing. Ensure accurate labeling with product names, weights, prices, and expiration dates.
  • Food Safety and Sanitation: Adhere to strict food safety and hygiene guidelines, including proper handling, storage, and cleaning of equipment and work areas. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations to maintain a clean and safe environment for both employees and customers.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Regularly clean, maintain, and sharpen knives, cutting equipment, and other tools. Report any equipment issues or maintenance needs to management.
  • Cross-Training: Collaborate with colleagues in other departments, such as the deli or seafood section, to provide additional support and coverage as needed.

Skills Required:

  • Previous experience as a butcher or in a similar role is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of various meat cuts, preparation techniques, and cooking methods.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and precision in cutting and portioning meats.
  • Basic math skills for weighing and pricing products accurately.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
