At Algolia, we’re proud to be a pioneer and market leader in AI Search, empowering 17,000+ businesses to deliver blazing-fast, predictive search and browse experiences at internet scale. Every week, we power over 30 billion search requests — four times more than Microsoft Bing, Yahoo, Baidu, Yandex, and DuckDuckGo combined.
The Opportunity
Agent Studio is Algolia’s AI builder platform, enabling customers to design, configure, and deploy intelligent agents that power rich, real-time experiences across their products. We are moving from early 0→1 foundations into the next phase of evolution. The product is currently in beta, and this role will play a critical part in shaping how it scales technically, conceptually, and experientially. We’re looking for a Staff Product Designer to help define the future of Agent Studio. You’ll work across dashboard configuration experiences, AI behaviour design, and the downstream frontend experiences those configurations power. This role blends deep product thinking, strong interaction design craft, and meaningful technical fluency.
You’ll collaborate closely with Product Managers and Engineers across Agent Studio, Model Context Protocol, and Frontend Experience teams to bring clarity to complex systems and design AI-powered workflows that are powerful, intuitive, and trustworthy. You’ll focus on designing systems (not just screens), helping Algolia customers build AI agents with confidence, while ensuring those agents deliver high-quality experiences to end users.
The Team
This role sits within the Product Design team and is embedded directly within the Agent Studio group, partnering closely with MCP and Frontend Experience teams. Algolia is a remote-first, globally distributed company. Our design organisation works cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and AI teams to deliver thoughtful, developer-centric experiences at scale. As a Staff Product Designer, you’ll have significant ownership and influence within your product area while remaining deeply connected to the broader design team for critique, craft excellence, and system-level alignment. This is a high-leverage role that will help shape how we design AI-powered products across Algolia.
Your Role
As a Staff Product Designer for Agent Studio, you will:
- Design complex, end-to-end builder experiences that enable customers to create and configure AI agents
- Shape AI interaction patterns, including trust, feedback loops, guardrails, explainability, and uncertainty handling
- Translate complex technical capabilities (APIs, SDKs, configuration models) into clear, usable workflows
- Partner closely with Product and Engineering to define product direction in ambiguous, early-stage spaces
- Connect dashboard configuration experiences to downstream frontend and end-user outcomes
- Identify system-level risks and scaling challenges early, helping ensure conceptual integrity across surfaces
- Contribute to long-term platform thinking, balancing flexibility, power, and usability
- Raise the bar for interaction design, clarity, and technical credibility across the team
- Influence how work is framed and prioritised, not just how it is executed
What We’re Looking For
You might be a great fit if you have:
- 7+ years of experience as a Product Designer, with experience operating at Senior or Staff level in B2B SaaS or developer tooling
- Experience designing complex systems, platforms, or builder tools
- Experience designing for developer-facing or highly technical audiences
- Demonstrated ability to shape product direction in ambiguous, 0→1 or early-stage environments
- Strong systems thinking and the ability to model complex workflows and interaction states
- Experience working on AI-powered products, data-rich interfaces, or non-deterministic systems
- Comfort discussing APIs, SDKs, and technical constraints with engineering partners
- Strong interaction and UX design skills, with fluency in Figma and modern design workflows
- Ability to simplify complex capabilities without removing necessary power
- A thoughtful approach to designing trust, safety, and clarity into AI-driven experiences
- A collaborative mindset and experience influencing cross-functional partners across Product and Engineering
- A strategic perspective, balancing short-term iteration with long-term platform coherence
- Comfort running lightweight discovery and usability research alongside a dedicated researcher
Nice to Have
- Experience designing AI agent builders, automation tools, or workflow configuration systems
- Experience designing across multiple surfaces (e.g., admin dashboards + end-user outputs)
- Familiarity with developer experience (DX) principles
- Experience designing guardrails, permission models, or role-based systems
- Experience in Search & Discovery for eCommerce platforms
- Exposure to experimentation in early-stage product environments
- A technical background
