Every week, we power over 30 billion search requests — four times more than Microsoft Bing, Yahoo, Baidu, Yandex, and DuckDuckGo combined. This strong foundation enables us to keep investing in our market-leading platform and serving incredible customers like Under Armour, PetSmart, Stripe, Gymshark, and Walgreens.

Algolia is looking for a Solutions Engineering Manager to lead and grow our EMEA North SE team, covering the UK, Ireland, Nordics, and Benelux, supporting Commercial, Enterprise, and Strategic accounts. Our SEs collaborate with Algolia users to understand their business challenges, architect and develop solutions, and serve as deep subject matter experts on Algolia's products and services, helping our prospects, customers, and users solve real-world problems through code, advice, and content.

Your role will consist of:

  • Leading approximately 6 Solutions Engineers covering Commercial, Enterprise, and Strategic accounts across EMEA North (UK, Ireland, Nordics, Benelux).
  • Developing your SEs to facilitate technical storytelling and drive the narrative during our pre-sales cycle.
  • Owning accountability for all aspects of the technical evaluation across EMEA North deals - starting in the discovery stage, progressing through evaluation, and all the way to business close.
  • Partnering with the regional Sales leader and AEs in EMEA North to align SE coverage, prioritize pursuits, and build joint pipeline and account strategy.
  • Coaching individual SEs on consultative selling; uncovering customer business outcomes and mapping Algolia capabilities to quantifiable ROI.
  • Championing the adoption of AI to drive SE team productivity.
  • Strategizing on driving business objectives through our Value Engineering process.
  • Partnering with our Demo Engineering team to build out compelling examples that showcase what our technology has to offer and prove out ROI.
  • Supporting quarterly quota attainment by achieving technical wins on net new business in the region.
  • Implementing best practices and data-driven programs to improve win rates, sales cycle, and product adoption.
  • Enforcing operational best practices on the team by maintaining consistent communication with customers.
  • Recruiting, onboarding, and ramping new SE hires as the team scales.
  • Partnering with Customer Success and Professional Services to ensure clean technical handoff and continued post-sale impact.
  • Working with Product and R&D to channel field intelligence from the region into the product roadmap.
  • Being a trusted advisor and consultant internally and externally to technical and executive stakeholders.

You might be a fit if you have:

  • 3+ years leading or coaching technical pre-sales teams in B2B SaaS.
  • 5+ years working as a Solutions Engineer or Solutions Architect.
  • Strong technical fundamentals with prior developer experience coding in a high-level programming language.
  • A deep understanding of web technologies and architecting various ecosystems to build scalable solutions.
  • A proven track record of meeting or exceeding quota in various economic environments.
  • Experience hiring, ramping, and developing SEs in a high-growth team.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • A passion for leading by example and encouraging a healthy work environment.
  • A coach's mindset — known for developing people and consistently raising the bar on team execution.
  • Willingness to travel (up to 25% across EMEA North).

Nice to have:

  • Prior experience in search technology.
  • Experience working in a global/matrixed organization.
  • Multilingual capability (English and an additional EMEA language).
  • Computer Science or related technical degree.

How to prepare for a job interview at Algolia

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Algolia uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
