Algolia is a fast-growing company that helps businesses deliver intuitive search and discovery experiences on their websites and mobile apps. Our APIs power thousands of customers in over 100 countries, handling 1.5 trillion searches a year—more than Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, Baidu, and Yandex combined.

The Mission

Build and scale Algolia’s global developer marketing strategy to inspire, educate, and engage developers everywhere. You will own the vision for how Algolia shows up in the developer ecosystem—through content, events, partnerships, programs, and world-class documentation—ultimately driving developer adoption and advocacy.

The Opportunity

Algolia’s developer community is at the heart of our growth. Our platform is trusted by developers who demand speed, relevance, and reliability. This role will lead the global developer marketing function, managing a multi-million-dollar budget and overseeing teams responsible for developer evangelism, developer documentation, and community engagement.

You will take over established high-value relationships with partners like Hacker News, Hackernoon, Dev.to, and expand our footprint at major conferences (AWS re:Invent, GopherCon, Haystack, and others). You will also help drive Algolia’s flagship programs like DocSearch, our open source/startup programs, and help ideate and foster creative projects like SwagSearch.

This is a role for a strategic leader who can operate at the intersection of marketing, product, and community—and who knows how to make Algolia a first thought for any developer building search and discovery.

The Team

Growth at Algolia is a unique hybrid organization that sits in both R&D and GTM. The Developer Marketing team sits within the Growth Marketing side of the house and collaborates closely with Product, Engineering, and Marketing. We’re a remote-first, globally distributed group of marketers, engineers, evangelists, and technical writers passionate about making developers successful.

YOUR ROLE WILL CONSIST OF:

  • Set the strategy for developer marketing globally, ensuring we speak with an authentic voice across all channels and programs.
  • Own and develop key partnerships with developer-facing communities and influencers (Hacker News, Hackernoon, etc.).
  • Oversee developer events strategy, including conference sponsorships, speaking engagements, workshops, and creative activations like SwagSearch.
  • Lead flagship developer acquisition programs like DocSearch, our Open Source/Startup Programs, and startup outreach, ensuring they deliver measurable developer engagement.
  • Direct paid marketing for developers, including advertising campaigns, sponsorships, and experimental acquisition channels.
  • Manage budgets for growth events, paid media, and community initiatives, ensuring high ROI on spend.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and GTM teams to ensure developer needs inform roadmap and messaging.
  • Lead and grow a high-performing team across developer evangelism and documentation, fostering collaboration and career development.

YOU MIGHT BE A FIT IF YOU HAVE:

  • 7+ years of marketing experience, with 5+ in developer marketing, developer relations, or technical community leadership.
  • Deep understanding of developer audiences, culture, and engagement channels.
  • A proven track record in building and scaling global developer programs.
  • Strong network in the developer community and familiarity with platforms like GitHub, Dev.to, Hacker News, etc.
  • Experience managing large budgets across paid, events, and community programs.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Experience managing distributed teams across multiple functions.

WE’RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO CAN LIVE OUR VALUES:
