Partner / Future Partner – Architecture

Location: Surrey

Salary: circa £80k + DOE

Job Type: Permanent

The Opportunity

An exceptional opportunity for an experienced Architectural Director, Partner, Associate Director or senior architectural professional to join an established practice in Surrey, with the potential to develop into a Partner-level position as part of the continued growth of the business.

This is a strategic appointment for an individual who combines strong architectural and project leadership with commercial acumen, business development and client relationships.

The successful candidate will play a significant role in the continued development of the practice, bringing experience, leadership and ideally an established network of clients and contacts.

The Role

You will have responsibility for leading projects and teams while also contributing to the wider commercial and strategic direction of the practice.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading architectural projects from concept through to completion.
  • Managing project programmes, budgets, resources and commercial performance.
  • Building and maintaining strong client and consultant relationships.
  • Leading multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Overseeing design, planning and technical delivery.
  • Managing fees, invoicing, cash flow and project profitability.
  • Providing leadership, mentoring and development across the team.
  • Supporting recruitment, resource planning and studio development.
  • Contributing to and leading bids, tenders and business development activity.
  • Identifying and developing new clients and project opportunities.
  • Developing existing client relationships and generating repeat business.
  • Bringing sector knowledge, market intelligence and professional networks to the practice.
  • Contributing to the overall growth, strategy and direction of the business.
  • Taking an active role in developing the practice's people, culture and capabilities.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking an experienced ARB Registered Architect with substantial UK architectural practice experience and a proven track record at Senior Associate, Associate Director, Director or Partner level.

You will ideally bring:

  • Significant experience leading complex architectural projects.
  • Strong commercial and financial management skills.
  • Proven business development and work-winning experience.
  • An established client and professional network.
  • Experience managing and developing architectural teams.
  • Strong understanding of recruitment, resource planning and people management.
  • Knowledge of employment law, HR processes and health & safety responsibilities.
  • Excellent client-facing, communication and leadership skills.
  • A proactive and entrepreneurial approach.
  • Strong design and technical understanding.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit.

Sector Experience

Healthcare and/or life sciences experience is highly desirable and will be a key consideration.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have developed genuine expertise and relationships within these sectors and who can contribute to the continued growth of the practice in these markets.

Candidates with predominantly residential experience are unlikely to be suitable.

The Opportunity to Progress

This is not simply a project-delivery position.

The successful individual will have the opportunity to take an increasingly influential role within the practice, with the long-term potential to progress into a Partner position.

For an ambitious Architect with the right combination of leadership, commercial awareness, client relationships and business-development capability, this represents an opportunity to become a key part of the practice's future growth.

Salary: Competitive and reflective of experience, seniority and the level of contribution the successful candidate can bring to the business.
