Our client is a design-led structural engineering consultancy that has been growing steadily over the past five years. With an established presence in both the UK and Australia, they work closely with architects to deliver bespoke residential and commercial projects that prioritise quality, creativity, and buildability. The business operates a largely remote working model in the UK, supported by a collaborative and close-knit team, and places real value on clear communication, practical engineering, and thoughtful design solutions.
The Role
They are now looking to appoint a Structural Engineer with around 5–6 years’ experience to join their UK team. This is a hands-on design role, offering involvement across the full project lifecycle and close collaboration with architects and clients in the UK and Australia. A key long-term element of this position is the opportunity to relocate to Australia within 1–2 years, with full sponsorship and support provided. Candidates will also have the chance to spend time in Australia ahead of any permanent relocation.
Key Responsibilities
- Structural design of bespoke residential and commercial projects
- Working closely with architects and design teams from concept through to construction
- Preparing calculations, drawings, and technical reports
- Supporting project coordination and design development
- Liaising directly with clients and external consultants
- Contributing ideas and solutions in a collaborative design environment
About You
- Approximately 5–6 years’ experience in a UK-based consultancy
- Background in a small to medium-sized, design-led practice
- Experience working on bespoke residential and/or commercial projects
- Confident liaising directly with architects
- Strong communication skills and a proactive approach
- Open to relocating to Australia within the next 1–2 years
- Party Wall experience is desirable but not essential
- Australian codes and regulations will be taught
