Principal Designer

A dynamic, design-led architectural practice in Birmingham is seeking an experienced Principal Designer to lead CDM design risk management across commercial, industrial, healthcare, and public‑sector projects. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative, growing team and play a key role in ensuring design safety, compliance, and quality throughout all project stages.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead design risk management and CDM compliance across projects
• Prepare and manage Pre‑Construction Information and Health & Safety Files
• Review design information, identify hazards, and mitigate risks
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams
• Support best practice and internal knowledge sharing

What We’re Looking For

• Proven Principal Designer experience under CDM 2015
• Knowledge of UK Building Regulations, construction methods, and risk management
• Experience across commercial, industrial, healthcare, or education projects
• Excellent communication, coordination, and organisation skills
• Revit proficiency advantageous (not essential)
• Strong attention to detail and solutions‑focused mindset
• 26 days holiday + bank holidays
