Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for an XRF Fusion Technician to join the team here in Liverpool, UK. The XRF Fusion Technician is responsible for the precise and accurate weighing, preparation, and processing of both fused borate beads and pressed powder pellets. This work is critical for the subsequent analysis of various materials and commodities submitted to the laboratory via X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF). The XRF department is a vital part of AHK’s laboratory services, utilising both wavelength dispersive (WDXRF) and energy dispersive (EDXRF) XRF spectrometers to analyse a wide spectrum of client materials.
Key Responsibilities
- To ensure full compliance with the company’s ISO 17025 and ISO 14001 certifications.
- The organisation and processing of the daily workload to meet the agreed work schedules and targets.
- To ensure that all processes are performed in accordance with documented methods and procedures.
- Ensuring all equipment that the post holder uses on a regular basis is kept clean and in good working order at all times.
- In cases where equipment is found to be working unsatisfactorily it is the post holder’s responsibility to inform the management team so that repair or maintenance can be arranged.
- Ensuring that all work areas and work stations are kept clean, tidy and free from contamination and other debris.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Strong team player with a collaborative approach and work ethic who can demonstrate a diplomatic and measured approach through leading by example and encouraging others.
- Ability to demonstrate literacy and to be numerate.
- Highly motivated with the ability to work under own initiative in a dynamic work environment with changing daily priorities.
- The ability to develop the skills and knowledge within the laboratory to create an environment where knowledge sharing is a priority.
- Able to demonstrate a high degree of manual dexterity and can regularly carry loads of up to 10Kg without issue.
Required Work Experience
- Furnace/Fusion experience is desirable but not essential.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of a GCSE or equivalent qualification is essential.
