We have an exciting career opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager with experience in roadway, highway, and/or civil site design to join our Michigan Transportation group. This role will be part of an established Transportation engineering group and will work with various transportation clients and projects. In this role, you will be involved in self-performing and directing project teams, contributing to planning and designing infrastructure projects, and playing a crucial role in nurturing client relationships. Your responsibilities will extend to providing design support for various projects, including roadways, driveways, sidewalks, maintaining traffic, drainage, pavement markings, and roadway scoping. Collaboration with disciplines such as hydraulic, traffic, structures, and environmental will be integral as you lead efforts to develop comprehensive turnkey projects.
This position provides a flexible work schedule, with three days working from the East Lansing, MI office and two days remotely.
The Impact You Will Have
- Collaborate with local management to strategize and implement project pursuits and delivery efforts.
- Devise and implement strategies for capturing project opportunities, including teaming arrangements and strategic positioning, while identifying necessary staff resources for successful project acquisition and delivery.
- Build and nurture relationships with both external and internal clients.
- Supervise and guide staff to facilitate smooth design and plan development processes.
- Engage in the design phases of roadways, highways, and interstates, overseeing projects from preliminary to final design stages.
- Create plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates in accordance with project requirements.
- Coordinate with reviewers and other disciplines to ensure the accuracy and quality of work.
- Contribute to the development of proposals for project pursuits.
- Provide direct support to Project Managers and Design Leaders.
- Effectively manage and organize project documentation.
- Collaborate within a dynamic team to fulfill project requirements and deliver a high-quality design to the client.
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, or higher, is required.
- 10+ years of progressive experience designing and delivering MI transportation (MDOT) projects.
- Michigan PE required.
- Experience as project manager or lead roadway engineer on MDOT projects.
- Experience working with clients such as State and County Departments of Transportation, and municipal.
- Proficient at using MicroStation and Open Roads Designer.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
