Lead radiographer responsible for implementing, evaluating and maintaining the development of radiotherapy techniques and clinical practice in the treatment and pre‑treatment setting at NCCC alongside the Technical Lead in Carlisle. To act as technical radiotherapy advisor and to support radiotherapy service development through clinical implementation of technical strategies and/or process change in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Risk assessment, audit, reporting and presenting outcomes of change.
- Lead the clinical implementation of new technologies and techniques.
- Implement, design and develop IGRT/IMRT/SGRT.
- Organise, facilitate and deliver training for IGRT/IMRT/SGRT to Therapeutic Radiographers maintaining training records and other relevant documentation.
- Advise developments and oversee technical changes in the department in collaboration with the multi‑disciplinary team.
- Provide expert support for radiotherapy treatment delivery and imaging, facilitating the development of new practice models and systems of work.
- Highlight areas of research and technical development.
- Assist in the design and facilitation of research to develop the service.
- Oversee implementation of new techniques & systems of working.
- Develop lines of communication with outside agencies, manufacturers and peers.
- Reporting and publicising developments for publication, conference presentations etc.
- Assist in the strategic planning of radiotherapy services and play a pivotal role in equipment selection.
