Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Phlebotomy team based at Freeman Hospital for a post of 30 hours/week working 0700-1300 on a rotational basis. As a Phlebotomist you are an integral part of the NHS, working closely with doctors, nurses and healthcare science staff. You will be required to take blood samples from inpatients on wards, ensuring they are correctly labelled and delivered promptly to the laboratories for analysis. This position demands a sympathetic approach when dealing with patients who may be nervous or require specialist care. Follow all procedures and guidelines at all times.
Main duties of the job
- Taking blood from patients while in hospital (venepuncture).
- Following policies and procedures.
- Storing blood securely.
- Promptly delivering samples to the laboratory.
- Working closely with the team and independently on wards to deliver safe care.
- Demonstrating good communication skills.
- Building rapport with nervous patients.
- Maintaining a sympathetic approach.
