The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Nurse Specialist (CYP Cystic Fibrosis) role.

We are looking for an experienced children's nurse to join our Children's Respiratory nursing team, working within the Regional Cystic Fibrosis (CF) nursing service and bronchiectasis nursing services at the Great North Children's Hospital. The role involves delivering a comprehensive service across the Northern region for children aged 0-18 years and their families. The post is suitable for a Band 5 with respiratory experience or a Band 6 with a keen interest in CF/bronchiectasis. A current driving licence is essential due to travel across the region.

Main Duties
  • Support and manage the care of children with CF and other respiratory conditions in hospital and community settings.
  • Participate in out-patient clinics, schools, local authority and patients' homes.
  • Work independently and as part of the wider respiratory nursing team.
  • Contribute to case-management, care planning, and maintenance of a shared caseload.
  • Maintain a clean driving licence for community travel.
Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance and support based on advanced knowledge to patients, carers and health professionals.
  • Assist in the planning, delivery and evaluation of care pathways for designated groups.
  • Support development of nursing practice and contribute to nursing knowledge.
  • Provide training and education within the specialist field.
Qualifications & Education
  • Registered Nurse (appropriate to branch).
  • Current NMC registration.
  • Diploma plus specialist qualifications or experience within the specialty; prepared to undertake degree-level study.
  • Current driving licence (if required).
Desirable
  • Degree in a health-related subject.
  • Research or audit experience.
  • Contribution to education and training programmes.
Knowledge & Experience
  • Post-registration experience in a related specialist area.
  • Extended clinical practice supported by training supervision and assessment.
  • Knowledge of relevant NHS policy or project context.
  • Experience of safeguarding (adult / child).
  • Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development.
Skills & Abilities
