Are you a Registered Midwife or have you recently retired and wish to return into a flexible position? If so, we are looking to recruit registered Midwives to join our Staff Bank. Our bank service supplies appropriately skilled staff to cover temporary shortages across acute and community settings. Benefits
All posts are subject to NHS pre‑employment checks including occupational health clearance and DBS (where appropriate). All pay progression is conditional upon a positive outcome at annual appraisal. Successful candidates who require a DBS for the post will pay for their DBS certificate; the payment is deducted from the first month’s pay. All new employees will attend the Trust induction programme and complete mandatory training requirements. Where professional registration is required, it is the responsibility of the employee to maintain it. The Trust operates a no‑smoking policy.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop, in conjunction with the women, a programme of individualized, holistic and personalized care, taking cognizance of social, physical, psychological and cultural needs.
- Work autonomously within NMC, Trust and Directorate Policies and Guidelines to provide specialist expertise to women in the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods, delivering high quality, evidence‐based care, and acting as an advocate for women and protector of the child within the hospital/community setting.
- Provide support and advice to all members of staff and colleagues within the multidisciplinary team.
Person Specification
Essential Education & Qualifications
- Registered Midwife
- Completion of preceptorship programme or equivalent experience
- Meets NMC requirements for practice supervisor/assessor
Essential Experience & Knowledge
- Experience as a Midwife leading to autonomous practice
- Competent to ensure the delivery of evidence‑based practice
- Demonstrates a broad knowledge of current midwifery issues
- Ability to work within acute and primary healthcare settings
- Understanding of the legal framework around safeguarding children
- A working knowledge of clinical governance
Desirable Education & Qualifications
- Evidence of ongoing professional and personal development to diploma/degree level
Desirable Experience & Knowledge
- Understanding of public health issues
- Awareness of training requirements for student midwives
- Experience of managing a ward during a shift
Legal & Registration Requirements
