Job Summary

Working in the hospitality industry, you will join the Catering Department at Freeman Hospital as a dining room supervisor. The role involves serving hot and cold food and beverages to staff and the general public, providing hospitality during buffets and special events, managing your own time and that of your team, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene.

• Hours: 37 hours 30 minutes per week (5 days, two shift times of 7:00 am‑3:00 pm and 11:15 am‑7:15 pm)
• Contract: Permanent, Full‑time, Band 2
• Salary: £24,465 per annum

Main Duties

• Supervise a group of staff on a day‑to‑day basis
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene
• Handle cash and rectify mistakes
• Ensure appropriate stock levels of retail products
• Compile work rosters and worksheets
• Serve staff and the general public in the restaurant
• Provide hospitality during functions
• Contribute during departmental meetings

Job Responsibilities

• Supervise food, functions and vending operations
• Maintain food hygiene and safety standards, quality control and manage people

Person Specification – Essential

• Basic Food Hygiene Qualification
• NVQ Level 1 or relevant qualification
• Experience in a large‑scale catering environment

Person Specification – Desirable

• Intermediate Food Hygiene Qualification
• NVQ Level 2 or above
