Overview: The role involves the management of inpatients and outpatients with liver disease, including patients with complex liver disease and those undergoing liver transplantation. The post holder will contribute to the out-of-hours hepatology on-call rota and will be fully JAG accredited in endoscopy where applicable.
Responsibilities
- Provide outpatient and inpatient specialist hepatology services, including management of recipients of liver transplants.
- Share responsibility with the multidisciplinary team for 24/7 cover for the Liver unit on a rota (currently 1:8).
- Share responsibility for 24/7 cover for emergency endoscopy for the Freeman while on-call for the liver unit.
- An interest in the management of steatotic liver disease would be desirable.

Essential β Education, Qualifications and Specialist Skills:
- Primary Medical Qualification.
- Full GMC Registration.
- Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register (within 6 months from the date of the AAC).

- Special skills training in the specialty.
Essential β Clinical Experience:
- Evidence of experience in the specialty.
- Evidence of a substantial commitment to the specialty.
- Demonstrate evidence of management of complex liver disease, acute liver failure and liver transplantation.
- Experience in management of patients with steatotic liver disease at the primaryβsecondary care interface.
- Ability to offer an expert clinical opinion within the specialty.
- Ability to take independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients referred to a tertiary centre.

- Experience in triaging referrals for patients with liver disease.

- Involvement with management and project leadership within the specialty.
- Evidence of involvement in authoring or reviewing clinical guidelines.
