Free Spirits is a busy 88‑place nursery catering for children 6 months to pre‑school. The role requires a self‑motivated, enthusiastic person with catering experience. A Level 2 food hygiene qualification is desirable.
Main duties of the job:- Assist in the provision of catering for children’s daily food and beverages, ensuring a nutritious diet and catering for any individual dietary requirements.
- Serve/assist in the distribution of meal boxes and meals.
- Prepare simple foods.
- Assist staff in the serving of meals and clearing away after meal times.
- Maintain a high standard of hygiene within the nursery kitchen.
- Carry out laundry tasks daily, ensuring the laundry space is well maintained and complies with Health and Safety/COSHH regulations.
- Collate meal numbers.
- Prepare trolleys for meal times.
- Assist nursery staff in the serving of food to children.
- Liaise with nursery staff to ensure all dietary requirements are accurate and up to date.
- Record fridge temperatures on a daily basis.
- Operate a rolling programme of washing the curtains and any fabric‑based play equipment within the nursery.
- Up to date Level 2 Food Hygiene Qualification.
- Awareness of good food hygiene practices.
- Have previous catering experience.
- Allergen Awareness Qualification.
- Able to work well within a large department but also use own initiative.
