You will be enrolled with a local education provider and will be required to complete your Level 3 Apprenticeship Programme within the duration of the placement. This opportunity will provide you with valuable experience and offer a strong foundation for a career within the NHS.
The ENT Department has a vacancy for an apprentice Clinical Administrator and the successful applicant will follow an Advanced Apprenticeship for 18 months and be paid a band 2 wage. On successful completion, the apprentice will automatically transfer into the permanent Band 3 post of 37.5 hour per week. Throughout the apprenticeship the post holder will gain experience working in the team within the ENT Department.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in the day‑to‑day operation of the ENT department, ensuring delivery of a consistently high‑quality service.
  • Support consultants, junior medical staff and other clinical staff with efficient secretarial support to specialists.
  • Audio‑type letters and documents.
  • Deal with telephone enquiries promptly and communicate with patients regarding appointments and admissions at the request of the medical/secretarial staff.
  • Cover administrative posts trust‑wide as required.
  • Complete the Advanced Apprenticeship in Business Administration within 18 months.

Eligibility for Apprenticeship

  • Be aged 18 or over.
  • Have the right to work and remain in the UK.
  • Have lived in the UK for at least 3 years.
  • Provide original evidence of required English and maths qualifications.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • 4 GCSEs, including English and Maths at Level 2 (or equivalent GCSE 9‑4 or A*‑C).
  • Business Administration Level 2 NVQ or equivalent experience.
  • Understanding of confidentiality issues.
  • Good communication skills (written, verbal, telephone).
  • IT skills, including office software packages.
  • Keyboard skills and text‑processing ability.
  • Ability to be flexible and work as part of a team.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Understanding of medical terminology.
  • Previous audio‑typing experience.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work on own initiative.

Additional Requirements / Further Information

  • You will not be considered if you have an equivalent or higher qualification in the same or a very similar subject.
  • You must not be engaged in any other funded training or education programme.
  • We cannot sponsor applicants during or on successful completion of the apprenticeship; please ensure you meet visa status eligibility.
  • We cannot accept applications from student visa applicants.
  • If you are a Non‑UK National, you must meet the settlement requirements of the apprenticeship course funding and be verified as eligible for funding by the relevant apprenticeship provider.

Salary & Benefits

Band 2: £24,465 to £26,598 per annum
Band 3 (post‑completion): salary not specified in this advert but will reflect permanent Band 3 pay.

Contract & Working Pattern

Permanent contract, full‑time (37.5 hours per week).
