Overview

Apprentice Desktop Support Officer role at Alfianni Online – Artist Netwerk. This position is within the Trust IT Department and supports delivery of high-quality IT Support Services to the Trust.

We are looking for motivated, proactive individuals with a patient focus to join the Desktop Support Team. The role involves providing second and third-line support to end users and requires strong listening and communication skills, the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines, and ongoing skill development to support a large user base.

You will be a Band 2 during the apprenticeship (18 months) with progression to Band 3 upon successful completion.

Main Duties

  • Provide first and second line desktop support to users across a complex IT infrastructure (over 15,000 desktop PCs/Laptops and 16,000 staff).
  • Assist the Senior Desktop Support Officers to diagnose and repair PCs, laptops, peripherals and applications.
  • Install, configure and upgrade desktops and peripherals for the Trust and supported third-party organisations.
  • Maintain up-to-date IT records and asset management; maintain knowledge of hardware used within the Trust.
  • Provide basic end-user familiarisation with PC hardware and peripherals during installations or upgrades.
  • Assess PC locations for health and safety before installation; be flexible to support multiple sites including community sites.

Eligibility for Apprenticeship

You must meet the apprenticeship criteria to undertake the role, including:

  • Have the right to work and remain in the UK; have lived in the UK for at least 3 years.
  • Provide original evidence of required English and Maths qualifications.
  • Not be engaged in other funded training or education; no visa sponsorship during/end of apprenticeship unless eligible.
  • Non-UK National applicants must meet settlement requirements for apprenticeship funding and have eligibility verified by the apprenticeship provider.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Essential: Good IT and keyboard skills; basic understanding of applications, installation and configuration; basic knowledge of Microsoft operating systems; ability to work under pressure; good time management; clear written and verbal communication; ability to work unsupervised; strong problem-solving skills.
  • Desirable: Basic network knowledge; experience installing and supporting PCs and peripherals; familiarity with NHS systems and service desk operations; 1st/2nd line experience in a customer service/desktop support environment; relevant technical qualifications (e.g., GCSEs, BTEC, A-Levels, or Level 3).
