Alfa Holiday Group has an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Assistant to join our Finance team based at our Central Office located in Buckshaw Village, Chorley. The Alfa Holiday Group is one of the UK's most highly respected coach holiday and hotel companies with a consolidated turnover of over £75 million per year. Alfa Hotels own and operate 25 hotels in the UK's most popular seaside locations. We have a combined bed stock of over 2,000 rooms and achieve strong all year-round occupancies due to our sister brands, plus our links to other coach operators and group organisers. You would be joining the group during an exciting period as we continue to see significant growth in the number of customers choosing to holiday with us each year. About The Job: We are offering a full-time equivalent salary of £30,000, with a pro-rated annual salary of £18,000 per annum from April, along with a range of additional benefits outlined below. This is a part-time position requiring 22.5 hours per week, worked across three days.
The Accounts Assistant will focus on the smooth operation of the purchase ledger process for the Alfa Holiday Group; processing invoices, dealing with suppliers including coach companies, travel agents and direct customers. In addition to your purchase ledger tasks you will be involved in assisting with the preparation of quarter end accounts. This role would suit a candidate who is looking to start a career in finance as we can offer funded training and in house development or alternatively an experienced Accounts Assistant looking for part time work. Our ideal candidate will be passionate about the travel industry.
Purchase LedgerThe main responsibilities are:
- Ensure invoices are correctly entered onto Lightyear & Access Financials (accounting system) ensuring correct general ledger codes, periods and VAT codes/amounts
- Ensure filing completed accurately and on a timely basis
- Check invoice costings against our system and authorise accordingly
- Direct invoices to the correct contact with the business for approval
- Ensure that queries are dealt with as soon as they arise and in accordance with accounts procedures
- Produce regular payment runs to ensure the timely payment of suppliers and allocation of payments against supplier accounts
- Supplier statement reconciliations
- Check drivers' credit card and out-of-pocket expenses, ensuring that VAT is accounted for correctly and all claims are in accordance with company policies
- Assist with the administration of the driver expenses and credit card system
- Enter cheque/BACS payments
- Produce chase letters for Direct Clients
- Contact agents by telephone/email to chase overdue debts
- Update data within existing spreadsheets and bespoke databases
- Produce intercompany invoices for quarter end reporting
- Assist with collating information to answer audit queries
- Maintain a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Any other reasonable duties
Experience in a similar role would be beneficial. Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively and maintain organised records. Strong IT skills, in particular Excel (vlookup, pivot tables). Experience working with Lightyear and/or Access Financials would be beneficial.
