Our client is a leading Building Services contractor with a strong reputation for delivering complex, high-quality projects across the UK. Following the award of several high-profile schemes, they are seeking an accomplished Electrical Engineering Design Lead to drive the technical delivery of major projects. This is a key leadership role requiring both strategic oversight and hands-on technical expertise, ensuring all designs meet the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and innovation.
The Role
- Lead the technical delivery of electrical design across the full project lifecycle, from feasibility through to commissioning.
- Oversee the production of detailed design packages, including LV/MV distribution, control systems, and associated infrastructure.
- Act as the department’s primary technical authority, setting standards and ensuring engineering excellence.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and technicians, promoting continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Ensure full compliance with BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and all relevant UK and international standards.
- Collaborate closely with mechanical, civil, and digital teams to ensure effective coordination and clash-free design integration.
- Serve as the lead technical interface with clients and stakeholders, clearly presenting complex engineering solutions.
The Person
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering (BEng, MEng, or equivalent).
- Proven experience in a senior or lead electrical design role within the Building Services / MEP sector.
- Strong leadership capability with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Highly proficient in industry-standard software such as AutoCAD Electrical, Amtech (ProDesign), and/or Revit MEP.
- In-depth knowledge of UK regulatory frameworks, including CDM 2015 and wider Health & Safety legislation.
- Commercially aware, solutions-focused, and able to perform effectively in a fast-paced project environment.
